I received a check back marked "Refer To Maker" over a month after it was deposited. The bank took the money out of my account and put the account in overdraft mode. I had the bank file a Notice of Late Return and the bank received a credit from the National Clearing House (NCHA)on 12/18/09.

Is there a time frame as to when the bank is to give me back my money? If so what rule is it and where do I look to find the rules.

The bank continued to charge me overdraft fees, then took the funds I had in a business account and savings to help satisfy the overdrafts. They then closed my personal and business accounts and savings accounts. All after the bank received the credit for the returned check.
