I left someone a check that they were supposed to deposit on Wednesday, but they actually dropped it for deposit over the weekend. Given that Monday is a holiday, I know nothing will happen with the check until Tuesday when their bank presents it. My worry is that my funds aren't available in my account until Thursday. I have a different bank, I think they used TD Bank. My bank says that if they receive the check information Weds night I should be fine becuase they can see my pending deposit. My concern is if they receive the check info on Tuesday night, the same day the deposit takes place at TD Bank. Is this likely? How does this normally work with clearing? In my experience, I usually see funds leave my account about 3 days after someone deposits a check, but does that mean the bank doesn't get the info that same day? I also know that when i pay a bill with an ACH payment online, it usually is 2-3 days before it leaves my account.

Any information is appreciated as i'm trying to stop worrying about this...next time i will for sure give the person the check on the right day to avoid this, but what about this situation?

It depends on how and when the deposit is made, in relation to your bank. At this point in time it is likely moot. If the banks are not close in proximity or using imaged checks, you were hopefully fine.
