Is there an easy way to insure that a specific serial numbered $100 bill was included in a cash deposit on a specific day? We have recieved an accusation against an employee (no proof) that large bills may be skimmed from the cash deposit. It is a one person operation, and we thought we would send a $100 through hopefully to prove that the person is not skimming. Although we trust the employee, we are also concerned of not doing our due diligence if we ignore the "tip".

Any suggestions?

Banks don't record or verify the serial numbers on bills. So no, you can't call the bank and ask if a specific bill was deposited. But if person A prepares the deposit, B verifies the amount, and C deposits it, you know the amount and if the deposit was adjusted. In a small shop, if A prepares teh deposit and double checks it, if B deposits less, you know what happened.
