I've heard that structured transactions can cause problems in the future. I'm not sure if my case falls under a definition of a structured transaction. My mother will be wiring gift money for me in 2 separate transactions. Each wire will be in the amount of $20,000. The wires will be 2 months apart. Would this be considered structuring? Will it generate SAR?

We won't discuss what would require a SAR. To discuss how to avoid a SAR could be construed as assisting in structuring.

We recommend doing your transactions as you want. So what if a SAR would be done? That is no indication of guilt - assuming you aren't hiding anything.
