It's Sunday, so I can't call my bank to ask this question. So, is it possible to stop payment on a debit transaction? Is the answer the same for all banks? I just had an optometrist take $180 from me and give me the same exact (or less) prescription as I had before, without telling me there was no change! I had no idea until I have worn them inside and trying to read. Still blurry! I called back and he told me of all the ways this was my fault. Ugh. I want to stop payment and go elsewhere!

This was an authorized payment, therefore you would not be able to stop it. While I can understand your frustration with the doctor, you really need to resolve this with him. There are state laws that protect those that provide services, i.e. doctors, plumbers, etc. I agree that he should have told you that there was no change; maybe he did it because it had been almost one year? Perscriptions are only good for 1 year.

Good luck with the doctor.
