Recieved a call from a "large" financial bank regarding a old outstanding debt, the gal ask why we had a debt on this credit card, if she could refi it with her. The debt was paid off within the past 6 months or so, she asked my wife if we recieved a large bonus or what to pay it off or how we paid off this debt( I feel that it was none of her business anyway). Is there somewhere or someone I can contact regarding this lady calling up and discussing our credit over the phone ?? thanks for any info ...

Your question was a little hard to follow, the debt that was paid off, was it with the same bank that was calling and was it credit card debt. Your answer will give me a better idea of how to answer.

Bobipex,
If I understand, you had a credit card at Bank A which you did not repay. Now, you have gotten a call from your current bank, Bank B, where you are being encouraged to repay Bank A.

Thats unusual. I can only thing of two reasons Bank B would do that. 1) You have a pending credit application at Bank B. Since you did not mention a pending application, the more likely possibility is 2)Bank B is reviewing your account to see if you still qualify for it.

You have the right to ask what prompted the inquiry and, if you are upset about it, you should call the bank and ask to speak to an officer who could explain it to you. However, if you do business with a bank they are entitled to ask you questions regarding your past credit history, whether it's on the phone, in person or in the form of requiring you to fill out an application.

thanks for your info, basically correct above except bank A credit card was paid off by cash not another loan from anyone else. My main problem was the way the gal from bank B "drilled" my wife on recent credit history over the phone. I will contact the branch manager on Monday, this happened late Friday afternoon. thanks for all...
