Home Equity Borrowing on Second Homes

Do I have to live in the home for which I want a home equity loa?

No, you don't. Many lenders will make home equity loans against other property you own such as a rental unit or vacation home. Often they will not loan as much, based on the property value, on these other properties, as they would against a primary residence.
