Getting a Refund from Property Taxes

I paid my property taxes and informed my mortgage company of the payment. They informed me that they stopped payment from my escrow. They paid the property tax anyway. I have been fighting for a month to get a refund. Is their anything I can do to expedite the refund?

It's likely in this case that even if your mortgage company has requested the refund from the taxing authority, the process to order out a check for an overpayment may be complicated and take a while. Contact the taxing authority to find out if a request for a refund has been received. Then get an estimate of how long the refund process takes.
