Can someone open a bank account in my name if they have a copy of my driver's license and social security. If so how can I prevent it?
If someone stole your identification and is committing identity theft you should immediately let that financial institution know. The FTC website has an entire section dedicated to identity theft and how you should react to it. There could be loans and other contractual obligations in your name, when this is the case.
If they were opening the account for your use, you should still talk to the bank. The account many be ready, but not yet active.
