Is Check Endorsed to Me Considered Income?

My mom has dementia. I am her POA. Collectors from her deceased husband are hounding her. If I open an account in my name, and have her endorse her SS check to me, will it be considered taxable income for me if I use it only to pay her bills?

We don't provide tax advice, but we don't believe those transfers would be considered income to you. As for the hounding collectors, you might find it helpful to talk to an attorney to figure out if your mother has any liability for those old debts, and perhaps to convince the collectors to cease and desist.
