Are conservators required to produce original documents to gain access to a ward’s account? Will a file-stamped copy of an order appointing the conservator be sufficient to allow the conservator to access the ward’s account.
It is generally recommended that banks see an original, or what is called a "certified copy," which is a copy produced and attested by the clerk of the court. To minimize costs, the banks don't retain the original or certified copy. Instead, they can make a copy, if needed, for their files.
You should check with the bank in question to determine what its documentation requirement is. Regardless of what might be recommended here, it's the bank that makes the final determination on this question.
