My wife endorsed a check made out to her and asked me to cash it. The bank said That only she could cash it. Can they legally refuse to cash a check?
Yes, the bank doesn't have to cash a check for anyone, unless it is drawn on the same bank. Many banks refuse to cash checks that have been endorsed to a depositor because they are not able to verify that the payee actually endorsed it. The bank was within its legal rights to refuse.
