Bank Refuses to Give Change for $100: Legal?

I went into a bank where I no longer have any accounts to change a $100.00 bill. The bank refused to make change. Do they have the right to do that?

Even if you still had an account with the bank, the bank would not be under any legal obligation to break up the $100 bill for you, although it probably would have accommodated you, as a customer service.
