I tried to deposit a rather large check I received for computer services. I knew there would be a hold, but I was checking my account online and it said PENDING:DEPOSITED ITEM RETURNED. I figured that meant the check bounced, but above it, the most recent activity says PENDING: MEMO CREDIT and has the amount that bounced next to it under balance. What does this mean?
The best source of information about online messages is your bank. If they put the messages there, they should know what they mean. A guess might be that the check indeed bounced, but your bank is redepositing it to give it one more try.
