I deposited an out-of-state check to my checking account via ATM. When I checked my online banking, it says "C" for clear. Does that means the check cleared or that the funds are available?
Quite honestly, we don't know. As we often suggest when asked about codes on banks' online banking sites, the only place to get such information is from the bank. Regardless of whether the bank has made the funds available to you, if the check is returned unpaid, the bank will have the right to charge your account for it.
