Can a bank issued credit card balance be withdrawn from a deceased person's checking account, when there is a fixed monthly payment arrangement with automatic withdrawal of payment? The only funds in the checking account are automatic deposits of social security and monthly retirement that have to be reversed.
The bank holding the deposit account, even if it's the card-issuing bank, should block all debit activity in the account that was authorized by the deceased individual. The bank should now contact the estate of the decedent to determine how payment is to be made.
