My bank's online banking system allows me to get copies of the checks that have been cleared. I just tried to get a copy of an important check so I could print it for my tax records, and the system told me "No image available." I don't get checks or copies with my bank statement. What should I do?
If you're really concerned about having a copy of this check, you can contact the bank's customer service area, explain that you weren't able to get the image from online banking, and ask the bank to send you a copy, but we think you'll find that the online banking system will be able to retrieve the check picture later in the day or, at worst, the next day. Check images are often stored on a different computer from the one with your account transaction records, and sometimes the image file is not available for a short time, or the communication link between the two computers is out of service. If you have frequent problems viewing pictures of your checks, you should let the bank know, so it can look into the problem.
