I am a co-signer on a loan and want to remove my name from it. The loan is in good standing, but the bank won't remove my name and the primary signer won't refinance. Do I have any options?
Your option existed only before the loan was made, unless there was a condition that you would be released after some period of time with regular payments or when the balance falls to a predetermined amount. These are not common.
A lender makes a loan with a cosigner because the applicant was weak in some area of credit qualification. You made up for that weakness. The lender has no incentive to release you early.
