Stock in Bank Now Closed: What to do?

My father took out stock for my brothers and I in the 80s. It was in a bank that closed and was ultimately bought out by M and T Bank. Is the stock we purchased, and still currently possess, worthless? If not, what can we do about the situation?

We can't answer this. Initially, if that stock did have a value it should have been transferred during the acquisition. Whether it was bought out, exchanged for stock in the new bank, or deemed worthless, will take research. You can contact the new bank, your investment supervisor, or a stock broker to begin researching this.
