What do I Claim to IRS?

Do I have to claim the money that I received from my grandmother's estate to the IRS?

At BankingQuestions.com we are bankers. We are not tax advisers and can't answer questions such as this with a definitive yes, no, or an amount you may owe. Instead, we would provide you with the general guidance that yes, the IRS will usually be entitled to a part of the income you receive.

Is there a tax on all or just a part of the money you receive, are there steps you can take now to reduce any tax liability, or steps recommended in the future before the money is transferred? Those are questions for your CPA, your accountant or attorney. Because your individual circumstances and state tax laws can influence the answer to these types of questions, you need to ask one of these professionals who is familiar with your circumstances.
