What happens to the contents of a safe deposit box when it is closed because of fees not paid? Is there a way to get the contents back?
Your agreement with your bank is actually a lease. The contract you signed will address this. Call your bank, pay what is owed, and collect your goods. If too long a period of time has lapsed, it is possible that the bank will have drilled the box (no, the bank doesn't have a spare key) and if it has been a really long time, the contents may have been escheated to your state, according to state laws.
