My husband and I have a safe deposit box together. All that we have in it are some savings bonds that my grandparents bought for my daughter. My husband has a few outstanding debts. Can the collectors take those bonds as payments?
Creditors can go through a court and seize funds in your bank accounts. A savings bond is not a bank account and creditors would have no idea they exist unless you tell them. Your bank has no idea what is in your safe deposit box. If the court has required you to list your assets and these are in your name, consult your attorney as to how they are shown.
