Is it illegal for a customer to store cash in a safe deposit box in Pennsylvania?
It is unknown that there is a law in any state that makes it illegal to store currency in a safe deposit box. Some safe deposit box contracts include language by which the lessor prohibits the use of the box to store cash. Sound safe deposit management, however, requires that the box system operator not know what is in a rented box, so any contract prohibition is hard to enforce.
