When I was born (1960) a savings account was started for me. I recently found out about this. It started with $1.00. The bank later went out or was taken over. Is there any way to find out about this, or would there be a valid claim?

By this time the funds in the account would have been considered dormant or inactive if you were not in contact with the bank. The bank is then required to escheat the funds to the state. Call the state comptroller or use one of the free web sites available to find money owed to you. This site may help.
