No Interest on Savings Account?

Is there ever a reason for a bank not to pay interest on money deposited in a savings account?

Untitled

In today's interest rate environment, it is common for a bank to have a minimum balance below which it does not pay interest, or if it offers accounts with rates based on balance tiers, to pay no interest on a lower balance tier. You should ask a bank representative about its interest payment practices.
