Tax Documents for Transferred Funds

If I transfer more than $10,000 from my savings account to my checking account in order to pay my taxes, is there any additional documentation or reporting of which I need to be aware? Does this count as a withdrawal or a transfer?

A transfer as you have described it would not require reporting because there is no cash involved. If your question about "withdrawal or transfer" refers to the regulatory limits on transfers from savings accounts, the answer will depend on how you make the transfer, and your bank's rules.

The federal regulatory transfer limits would count your transfer against the six per month you are allowed if you make the transfer using your bank's internet banking service or telephone banking service. It would not count the transfer if you made it at an ATM or in person.

Your bank may have more restrictive limits than those imposed by the regulation. You'll need to ask the bank about its limits to know what these are.
