Bank Won't Talk with Me about Fraudulent Check

I was going to take money out of my account, not knowing that a check that was deposited was fraudulent. Now, several months later, the bank is suing me for the money. What can I do?

The bank investigator has done nothing, and now I want to talk to her and she isn't returning my calls. I can give her the name of the people who gave me the check. At the time I was fearful for my life and my family, and I now want to give her full information and she's no help.

The bank representative won't discuss the case with you because it is now a matter before the courts. It is not uncommon to break off any communication with the other side of a court case, and any discussions are held either in court or between attorneys.

Regardless of why you deposited the check and withdrew the funds, the law makes you liable for the check amount. If you have information that might lead to prosecution of the real fraudsters in this case, you may find that the police are the only party willing to listen at this point.
