If the bank takes a payroll check that is no good, who is responsible?
The bank will reverse the check, payroll or otherwise, that will not clear and want that money back from the person to whom they gave the funds. They basically reverse the transaction. There is no reason the bank should accept a loss when they have faith in their customer depositing or cashing a check.
