I was recently scammed by a phony business loan company by means of a personal check that I sent them for $2000. How is that phony companies like these are able to cash a check of this amount and get away with it? I was told that they use anonymous offshore bank accounts. Is there any truth to this?
Your bank can probably help you determine where the check was deposited by reviewing the endorsements on the back. In spite of attempts of government and the banking industry, it is still possible to falsify documents in order to open bank accounts in legitimate U.S. banks. The fact of the matter is that some banks are better than others at detecting that sort of fraud.
