I was asked to give someone my name, my bank's name, account number, routing number and full address. I have a account with no money in it. Am I at risk if I comply with the request?
If the person to whom you gave the information obtained it for fraudulent purposes, of course you are at risk. He or she could create an overdraft in your account, or could wait patiently, figuring you'll make a deposit sooner or later.
If you think you may have been unwise to give out all that information, you are correct.
Close the account out and establish a new one, this time being careful about with whom you share information.
