Mother Signs My Name, Cashes My Check

I live in Carson City, Nevada and my mother signed my name and cashed a check that was issued to me. How come her financial institution didn't ask for my ID? The check was cashed on 12/07/09. Can I do anything about this?

You will need to go back to the person who wrote you the check. You will have to explain that you didn't receive benefit of the check. Their bank will track it back and explain that there was a forgery, and that if your mom's bank did check ID, they didn't do it well. The bank at fault will then repay the other bank and you can then be paid. Your mother, however, may have to answer to the police because of her theft.
