I had checks stolen and found that the person deposited one in an ATM machine. I was wondering if there is any way to find out who the person is even if he did not endorse the check?
You need to work through your bank and the bank of the person who wrote you the check, assuming these were not your own. What you want is your money if there were funds taken from your account or in the form of checks payable to you. The person who paid you needs to ensure the bank doesn't pay the check(s). They and their bank can seek justice in the courts if desired. If the check was stolen while in the mail, the post office should be notified. That makes it federal. No bank or law enforcement agency will give you to much information unless it is necessary to the investigation and prosecution.
