Husband Forges Wife's Signature, Deposits Check

My husband and I are separated. He forged my signature on our joint tax return and deposited it into his individual account. Is the bank liable for accepting the check without verifying the signatures?

They certainly can be. You will need to express to the IRS what you believe happened, and they will investigate. They may then hold the bank liable and collect money from them in order to repay you. Your bank will then look to your husband for repayment. Your husband may have problems with the bank, or the local police.
