Money was removed from both a checking and savings account to pay a payday loan that I never had. How do I get my bank to investigate this? At present they refuse to help saying it is my problem. I was under the impression that only the IRS could have a bank take money with no questions asked.
You need to ask the bank by what means and what authority these funds were taken from your account. Tell them you want to place a claim under Reg E if the funds were removed electronically. If you didn't authorize it, it is not your burden to hunt down and recover your money.
