I have been sent 5 Money Orders Issued by _____________________. They are numbered 689415996; 689415997; 689415999; 689416000; 689416001. They are all for $850.00 payable at ______________ Bank. They are from Agent 117902 dated 05/02/20xx.
They were sent to me by my friend's boss at his request. He works in Nigeria at an orphanage. He is a US citizen from California. He asked that they be sent to me as he can not cash them there and wanted his cash to get airline tickets from there to Albany, New York for him and his son to be with me. He said his friend usually takes them to the US to cash and because he was leaving on such short notice he thought I could take care of that for him. His name is John. He is the secretary for his boss. This all I can tell you of what I know. John works at the orphanage where, I think it was 5 of the children were killed this week when a gasoline pipeline blew up when people were stealing fuel. I really wish I could find out what is going on. He says he knows nothing of it and says he finds it hard to believe his boss would do this to him. What ever you can tell me will be of help. I was going to try to get money to send him $1,600.00 to go with the other $1,000.00 he has already put down on the two tickets for him and his son.
I am unable to get these cashed. They tell me they are no good. Do you have any idea what is going on with these and why I can't get the $4,250.00.
This is a classic Nigerian fraud scam. Your "friend" and his "boss" are crooks. They are sending you counterfeit checks in the hopes you will cash them and send them back the money.
Let me guess. Did you met your friend online in a chat room? Has he told you yet he loves you? If only you could cash these checks and send him the money he will come visit you?
You've met an online crook. He has no intent of coming to visit you. if you send him money he will keep making excuses for being delayed and needing more money.
We hope you will drop him and his email scam like the proverbial "hot potato." Do whatever you have to to end your correspondence with him, including changing your email address and, if you've given it to him, your telephone number.
