How can I Stop Receiving Scam Offers?

I have been looking for a job over the Internet. I have recently been receiving tons of offers to open bank accounts for businesses that can't open them in the US. I understand that these are scams, but it seems that I am applying for what appears to be a local job and then I get the e-mail scam. I get about seven of these offers a week.

How do these scams operate? Is there any way I can determine whether the jobs I am applying for are actually legitimate? How can I get these scam offers to stop?

The minute you put your email address out on the internet, particularly with less-than-reputable job sites or those that display contact information publicly, you're waving a red flag in front of thousands of scammers. Get a new email address, and notify only those people you want to correspond with (or from whom you wish to receive email). Then refrain from posting any email address on a jobs web site (make sure the jobs service is the only part that can see your real address). Better yet, search job sites for jobs that you might be interested in, and respond to those job postings instead of putting personal information out there for the world to read.
