Is this Offer a Scam?

I received an email from a Director of Accounts from a bank in Liverpool, England. The email asked me to send him my account information (including my COT code) so that he can send me my prize winnings. Is this legitimate? What is a COT code?

There have been a lot of references to a COT code recently. Every time it pops up, there's a scam involved. It appears that scam artists, often using a Nigerian scam model, have latched onto the term in an attempt to make scam emails somehow seem more legitimate.

No reputable bank would ever ask you in an email message to provide account information. The reference to prize winnings is another clue that someone is trying to convince you to provide personal confidential information (account information) in an attempt to separate you from your money. Delete the email and most definitely do not respond to it.
