Prioritizing Student Loan Options

My son will be heading off to college next year. There seem to be many options available to pay for an education. How do you prioritize what to try to use first?

Having choices is a good thing. We suggest first applying for all the grants and scholarships possible as these don't require any repayment and should be used first. Next, look at the options that have the lowest cost in the long term. These options also have the shortest repayment schedules, meaning the payments will be higher, but this also means you will be out of debt sooner.
