Check to Trustee: Must it be Deposited?

If I make a check payable to Attorney John Smith, Trustee, doesn't he have to deposit it? He is not allowed to cash it, is he?

Mr. Smith should deposit the check to an account in the name of the trust or in his name as trustee. It would not be expected that he would cash it.
