Financing Folly: They Messed Up, Should I Pay?

I am financing a car that I recently bought. The title was accidentally sent to me and they want it back. If I have the title why should I pay? Legally I have "already paid" right?

No, you haven't already paid. The fact that you're holding the title doesn't mean that you don't owe the money. The status of the creditor's lien on your car is simply in question. The note (your promise to pay) is still completely enforceable. Refusing to pay it can only lead to legal problems and negative information filed in your credit history. The creditor may be able use the courts to compel you to surrender the title to them, since you received it in error.
